Enabling Renewable Energy Storage

A persistent complaint against renewable energy sources is: what do you do with all the excess energy? Or what if we need power when the wind isn’t blowing or at night when the sun has set? We’ve talked at length about utilizing battery energy storage systems to bridge the gap between the intermittency of renewable energy technologies.

Blending Two Battery Solutions

As battery technology keeps improving, more homeowners and drivers will use it to move around in their EVs and back up their homes with battery backup. The next step in the evolution of battery technology is to merge EVs and home battery backup, which will give you Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.

What is V2G technology?

Vehicle-to-grid technology represents a paradigm shift in the automotive industry by transforming electric vehicles (EVs) into mobile energy storage units. V2G enables bidirectional energy flow between EV batteries and the electrical grid, allowing vehicles to draw power from the grid and feed surplus energy back into it when needed.

Tesla Powershare Technology

Tesla Cybertruck comes with Powershare technology, which includes onboard electronics that unlock your battery’s ability to provide power whenever you need it, wherever you are. Whether you need to power a construction site, pre-game tailgate, another electric vehicle, or even your home during an outage, your Tesla vehicle with Powershare has you covered.

Key Cybertruck Powershare Features

For home backup purposes, the Powershare-enabled Cybertruck can boast many specs, including a max continuous real power of 11.5 kW, an LRA motor start of 110A, and a nominal voltage of 240V AC. Using these features, you can share the power in many ways, such as:

Home outage protection

For the average home that consumes 30kWh of energy daily, the Cybertruck battery can back up your home for over three days. You can connect your Powershare-eligible vehicle with a Powerwall, Universal Wall Connector, or Backup Switch. Find the configuration that meets your needs and interconnects with existing or future solar and EV charging technology.

Power on the go

With the onboard outlets, you can utilize 9.6kW of max continuous real power, 110A LRA motor start, and 120/240V AC nominal voltage to power out in the field or while away, disconnected from the grid. Four 120V outlets up to 20A and one 240V cargo bed outlet up to 40A make it easy to plug in and power your tools or camping gear.

Charge other EVs

Are you caravaning with other EVs? You can Charge other electric vehicles when your friends or family need an extra boost to their battery capacity.

Tesla's Burgeoning Powerwall Market

As Washington’s Premier Powerwall Installer, we help homeowners back up their homes and ensure that they can keep the lights on even when the grid cannot. We’re thrilled to be at the forefront of new technologies like Powershare and V2G, which provide more avenues to utilizing renewable energy technologies. The latest Tesla battery technology is the Powerwall 3, which, in addition to being a battery energy system, also comes ready for solar and EV charging/V2G. The result is a robust, low-cost design prepared for the future. Discover how you can power everything with Powerwall 3 by clicking the button below.
